Field Trip to Flatbush

Today we attended a Homeschool Day at a historic house in Flatbush, Brooklyn. It reminded me of my Grandma H's house, not because of how it looked but the location. It's an old farmhouse surrounded by McDonald's, businesses, and busy streets on all sides. In the midst of all that, sits a old farmhouse with lots of stories inside it's walls (and this house had lots of corncobs inside the walls too, for old-fashioned insulation!).

The house is 350 years old and the oldest house in the state. It was built in the days when New York was called New Amsterdam.
