We've been studying geology this winter and today we headed to the museum to look at some gemstones. Here is Freddy adding information to his science notebook. He learned today that one ounce of gold can be spun into a mile of wire.

We used to visit this room when the kids were very young. They liked to walk up and down the carpeted stairs and down the corridors surrounded by gemstones.  Hardly anyone visits this room at the museum so we always had the run of the place. Olivia remembers the room, but Freddy was too young at the time to remember now.The room hasn't changed since that time, but my kids sure have!

Olivia was interested in the display of her birthstone, the opal. She noted and drew the differences between fire opals, black opals, and white opals.

Don't let Freddy's face fool you, we had a good time spending the morning at the museum today.
