Tourists in our own town

The kids and I played tourists this week and went on a walking tour of downtown. The building on the far right is the site where George Washington gave his farewell speech to the troops after the War.
Bowling Green was the first public park in the city. A statue of King George that stood in the park was torn down by the patriots and melted into cannon balls.

This is Federal Hall, on the site where George Washington was inaugurated as President.

Federal Hall is on Wall Street. On the street, you can see where the original wooden wall used to be.
At St. Paul's Chapel we saw George Washington's pew.

The National Museum of the American Indian was the last building of many on our tour with huge sets of steps to climb to the entrance. Freddy took the easy way down, riding the rail. We all liked this museum and hope to visit it again this school year.At Castle Clinton in Battery Park, we took a break to make some cityscape drawings. I really like how Olivia's turned out. You can see by my charming smile that I had a great time exploring downtown with the kids!
